Product Description Alfred's Basic Adult All-in-One Course is designed for use with an instructor for the beginning student looking for a truly complete piano course. Excellent piano method March 11, 2009 All4Amazon (San Diego, CA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am nearing the end of Alfred's All-in-one Book 1, so have only browsed this book. But, I can comment on what I like about the methodology and the books:
1. The progression of theory, exercises, and performance materials is very well thought out. When Palmer says this exercise should be practiced daily, do it. It really helps improve your technical skills.
2. The quality of the construction is high - big easy to read notes and spiral bound so the book lays flat on the piano music stand.
3. The songs are interesting and varied, introducing different genres of music.
The only slight drawback is there is ample opportunity to improvise on a number of the songs and try your hand at composing, but Palmer does not point this out. It is definitely worth doing, really reinforcing a thorough understanding of chords, keys, chord inversions, and other concepts introduced in the text.

This set is great, I am still finishing book 1, but already bought books 2 and 3 because I know I will need them! I have looked through this book and I love the pieces included and can't wait to learn them!
excellent choice for teachers to use this series May 17, 2009 Donald F. Rogers (Pompton Plains, NJ) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have been teaching piano for 8+ yrs. already. I recommend Alfred's Piano Course as an excellent teaching tool for all teachers who are teaching piano/keyboard!
Higly recommended Piano Course Book June 7, 2009 H. RIANDI (Jakarta, DKI, Indonesia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I highly Recommend Alfred's Basic Adult All in One Piano Course (I bought level 1, level 2 and level 3 ).
If you have no background in piano and/or music theory, I believe this book will guide you even from scratch, .... and by completing level 3 book, you will most likely can play very nice classical stuff (Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, Fur Elise, Bach's Works etc,) and also you will have ability to play pop, jazz, blues.
Why am I saying this? Am I eligible to make such a review? I think so.
I myself right now still studying the end of book 1 and some part of book2. But eventhough I am a beginner in Piano, I am quite advance (or at least a bit higher than intermediate)in classical guitar. In my younger day, I've spent sometimes teaching classical guitar at local music school, so at least I have some background/experience in teaching, playing and performing classical music and some music theory as well.
Looking and browsing through all 3 books, I can see that these books are arrange in easy to follow and fun style, but still the content can be consider high quality.
5 stars without any doubt
