Helps Teach the Notes, which is important December 2, 2007 Smaug (Round Lake Beach, IL United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this to help me learn the notes for learning how to play piano. Mom recommended it. (she taught piano lessons when I was a baby 30 years ago)
She said it is a classic, and although it is kind of boring, this is what's needed to learn the notes so that I can ultimately read music and play Mozart. It seems to be working.
I leave it in the bathroom with a pencil, and work on it for those few minutes when there's nothing else to do with my mind. ;)
Schaum Note Spellers Book 1 April 28, 2008 M. Waer 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As an "older beginner" to the piano, I found this speller to be a very helpful work book.
Excellent for young students learning to read those notes! August 28, 2008 Latte (OH, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a piano teacher of over 20 years, this is one of my favorite tools to help get beginners solidly on the road to reading and recognizing the notes of the treble & bass clefs. It will be a little tedious for any child who is not a beginner, but for the rest, it will be a valuable tool to help them with this critical skill.
It begins with the most basic recognition of the lines & spaces, then adds note names to them, and helps with drawing the clefs as well. Recommended!
Very good for teaching notes! October 17, 2007 Hazel Mae Heki (Clinton, Ut) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
My daughter had a book that was teaching 2nds, 3rds, and so on and her teacher and I felt like it would be better if she learned the names. I think it will really help her.
John W. Schaum Note Speller - Book Two April 19, 2009 Janice L. Martin (Papillion, NE USA) Very good book as your student progresses in reading notes and music understanding. Shouldn't be used until after Book One and probably shouldn't be used until the student is in at least 2nd or 3rd year of learning. Teacher may have to review the upcoming lessons! Some of the information is a little challenging to the old memory!
